Mr. Kattah is an entrepreneur who has worked across various sectors including journalism, farming, trade imports and exports, and real estate, in his native country of Ghana, and Liberia located in West Africa. He is originally from Keta, Ghana, which is situated in the Volta Region, near Accra, Ghana. Kennedy belongs to the Ewe tribe. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Cuttington University College in Luacoco, Liberia and did post-graduate work in the area of biostatitsics and demographics. Mr. Kattah worked in Liberia, West Africa, where he served as an embedded journalist with the resistance fighters during the coup-de-tete and war.
Kennedy is a West Africa–based leader with over two decades of experience in community development, cooperative governance, media advocacy, and strategic business management, he brings a unique blend of grassroots insight and organizational leadership that aligns with our mission to promote equitable maternal and child health.
His professional journey has consistently centered on empowering underserved communities. As Secretary of the East Outgrowers Cooperative,he helped coordinate agricultural livelihoods for rural families, many of whom are women-led households. His background in biology and statistics, combined with his career in journalism and radio management, has equipped Kennedy to translate complex health and development issues into accessible, actionable narratives—an asset in both advocacy and boardroom strategy.
Kennedy was particularly drawn to HMHBA’s commitment to culturally responsive care and reproductive justice. Having worked across Liberia and Ghana, he understands the critical importance of community trust, local leadership, and inclusive policy in transforming health systems. His regional perspective and experience in stakeholder engagement, grant writing, and organizational growth contributes meaningfully to our board’s strategic vision. He is honored to support our work in advancing maternal and child health equity. He is looking forward to the opportunity to contribute to HMHBA’s impactful mission.
Mr. Kattah works with country directors and stakeholders on the African continent to bring opportunities to improve maternal and child health through our programs and services in The Motherland.
As a father of one adult son living in Liberia, West Africa, he is committed to empowering men to be present for their wives during the maternity care experience and strives to provide more support for young men to become engaged and supportive fathers to their children and their mothers. With his wife, he enjoys traveling and living on two continents.
