Donna Moragne-Hanson, LM, CPM
Licensed Midwife/Certified Professional Midwife
Donna was introduced to Happy Mama Healthy Baby Alliance (HMHBA) and participated in our Community Birth Doula Training. She found that the organization aligned with her own professional philosophy centering around the health care of women of color during their reproductive years. Throughout her midwifery licensure process, she very much wanted to serve the women of her community. During her internship, she worked with Midwives for Haiti.
In 2024, Donna became a Licensed Midwife by the Medical Board of California. In 2019, she became a Certified Professional Midwife through Nizhoni Institute of Midwifery in San Diego, California. In 1985, she received a Bachelor’s Degree in Archeology at the Rhode Island School of Design. In 1984, she received her BFA at Rhode Island School of Design. From 1980-82, she attended Howard University in Washington, DC. From 1979-80, she attended Spelman College in Atlanta, Georgia.
As a Licensed Midwife, Donna is committed to walking alongside every woman at every birth. “Too many women of color are too often marginalized and not treated with the dignity, respect and care they are so deserving of,” Donna says. “I share this vision along with HMHBA, and I believe we can strengthen these fundamental cornerstones. I look forward to serving Happy Mama Healthy Baby Alliance as we continue to advocate for women, babies and their families”.
She is married and a mother of four. She has a homebirth practice in Los Angeles, called Onyx Midwifery.
