Cordelia Hanna, MPH, CHES, ICCE, CLE, CBA, has over 35 years of experience in the maternal and child health sector and is a highly qualified Advanced Doula who has worked in Los Angeles County for over 35 years.

Since 1991, Cordelia has served as an assistant midwife, doula, and monitrice, supporting hundreds of births in hospitals, birth centers, and homes. She has worked with families from all ethnic backgrounds and income levels. Her clients include teachers, scenic carpenters, entertainment industry executives, lawyers, scientists, and high-profile entertainment figures.

As a Health Educator, she has trained over 350 professionals in perinatal health education and has taught hundreds of expectant parents in childbirth preparation classes at clinics, hospitals, and in private practice across Los Angeles County.

Cordelia is a Certified Birth Assistant (CBA), Postpartum Doula, and Monitrice, certified by The Association of Labor Assistants and Childbirth Educators (ALACE). She is a Certified Childbirth Educator (CCE), certified by the International Childbirth Education Association (ICEA), and a Certified Lactation Educator (CLE), accredited by Childbirth and Perinatal Professionals (CAPPA). Cordelia attended Sage Femme School of Midwifery in Encinitas, CA. She trained as a midwife in birth centers and homebirth settings with several Southern California midwives, and worked as a Midwife Assistant in a birth center in Oregon.

Cordelia holds a Master’s in Public Health (MPH) with a focus in Health Education/Promotion and Maternal-Child Health from Loma Linda University. She is also a Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) accredited by the National Commission on Health Education Credentialing (NCHEC). She has worked as a public health practitioner throughout Los Angeles County at community clinics, public health departments, and in community non-profit organizations on maternal, child, and adolescent health programs.

Her generous nature and expertise shine in her roles as a Birth Doula Support, Lactation Counselor, Postpartum Doula and Childbirth Educator extraordinaire. She provides private childbirth preparation classes, tailoring her approach to each family’s unique needs. Cordelia’s experience working across cultures makes her uniquely able to work with families of all backgrounds.

Cordelia is a homebirth mother of two; and a grandmother.  Her life partner is from Ghana, West Africa, and together they enjoy an international lifestyle spanning two continents.
