Cordelia Hanna, MPH, CHES, ICCE, CLE, CBA brings over 33 years of experience in maternal and child health, passionately dedicated to supporting families. Cordelia is an Advanced Doula who is one of the most experienced Doulas in Los Angeles County, in practice since 1991. As a Certified Birth Assistant (CBA), Postpartum Doula, and Monitrice through The Association of Labor Assistants and Childbirth Educators (ALACE), along with being a Certified Childbirth Educator (CCE) through the International Childbirth Education Association (ICEA) and a Certified Lactation Educator (CLE) through the Childbirth and Perinatal Professionals (CAPPA). She attended Sage Femme School of Midwifery in Encinitas, CA  and trained as a midwife in birth centers and homebirth with several Southern California midwives.

 

Since 1991, Cordelia has worked as an assitant midwife, doula, and monitrice, supporting hundreds of births across various settings, including hospitals, birth centers, and home births, with families from all ethnic backgrounds and income levels. Her clients include individuals from diverse professions, such as teachers, film and music industry executives,  lawyers, scientists, and high- profile entertainment figures. She has been teaching childbirth education classes since 1991 at community clinics, birth centers, public health departments, hospitals, and in private practice throughout Los Angeles County.

 

Cordelia holds a Master’ s in Public Health (MPH) focusing on Health Education/Promotion and Maternal – Child Health from Loma Linda University. She is also a Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) accredited by the National Commission on Health Education Credentialing (NCHEC). She has worked as a Public Health Practitioner throughout Los Angeles county at community clinics, public health departments and in community non-profit organizations on maternal, child and adolescent health programs.

 

 

During her 10- year tenure at the Pasadena Public Health Department’ s Black Infant Health Program, Cordelia established the very first Doula program for African American families, and for four years, she trained Latina community health promoters as Doulas through Esperanza Community Housing Corporation in South Los Angeles, helping to promote healthy moms, healthy  births and healthy babies.

 

Her generous nature and expertise shine in her roles as a Birth Doula Support, Lactation Counselor, Postpartum Doula and Childbirth Educator extraordinaire. She also provides private childbirth preparation classes, tailoring her approach to each family’s unique needs.Cordelia’s experience working across cultures makes  her uniquely able to work with families of all backgrounds.

 

Cordelia is a homebirth mother of two; and a grandmother of three. Her life partner is from Ghana, West Africa, and together they enjoy an international lifestyle spanning two continents.

 

Currently Cordelia serves clients in the San Gabriel Valley of Los Angeles County and San Bernardino County, including Pasadena, Covina, Upland, Pomona, Claremont, San Dimas, Rancho Cucamonga, San Bernardino, Redlands, and Loma Linda.
