Philosophy:
“Pregnancy can be a time of personal growth and childbirth can be an empowering and transformational experience for women. I feel this goal is achieved through education and support. I have over 24 years experience helping women through the process in multiple settings: home, hospital and birth center. I love helping expectant families gain trust in birth and make informed choices while cultivating acceptance of unexpected outcomes. I work with diverse families from many backgrounds, including African-American, African Immigrants, Lesbian Mothers, Jewish Families, Single Mothers, etc.
I believe that motherhood is a sacred journey and a new mother deserves to be nurtured and supported in the first weeks postpartum so she can bond with her precious newborn. I have over 24 years experience helping mothers through childbirth and in the postpartum period as a Doula and Assistant Midwife. I am also a Certified Lactation Educator & Counselor. It is my pleasure to help new mothers and father/partners gain confidence to care for their newborn babies. I am also an excellent cook and can customize meals to suit the families taste, and help with the newborn and new mother care. Hourly, daily and weekly rate. Also can provide overnight care, and can help with twins and post-cesarean recovery. I promote attachment parenting practices (co-sleeping, baby-wearing, on-demand laid-back breastfeeding, etc.), Kangaroo care (Nils Bergman) and Biological Nurturing (Suzanne Colson) and The Happiest Baby (Dr. Harvey Karp) approaches to infant care.”
