Doula

Happy Mama Healthy Baby Community Birth and Postpartum Doula

I am Jazz DeCohen, and I consider myself a dedicated individual committed to supporting women and families during the perinatal period. I have a profound passion for empowering women and a robust background in perinatal care, which has allowed me to earn the respect of my peers in the field.

My extensive knowledge and experience as a perinatal professional and lactation education specialist, and as a mother of four children, have equipped me well to guide and assist women throughout their pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum journey. My journey began with a Bachelor’s degree in Arts and Psychology from Clark Atlanta University, providing me with a solid foundation in comprehending the psychological and emotional aspects of pregnancy and motherhood.

As a student midwife, I am continually expanding my skills and expertise in the field of midwifery. My personal experiences as a mother of three and a survivor of domestic violence have given me a unique perspective and a deep empathy for the challenges that women may face during their childbearing years.

My own journey of overcoming homelessness and surviving domestic violence has fueled my determination to create positive change for other women in similar situations. Inspired by my transformative experience of receiving compassionate care and support at a birth center, my aspiration is to manage my own birth center in the future. My goal is to ensure that all women, regardless of their circumstances, have access to the best possible care and support during pregnancy and childbirth.

At present, I work closely with midwives, providing invaluable assistance and expertise. Through my compassionate and nurturing approach, I strive to create a safe and empowering environment for women during the childbirth process. My ultimate vision is to establish a birth center that is not only accessible but also provides high-quality care, guidance, and support to all women who seek it. I am currently working as a Postpartum Doula on our GAAINS Postpartum Doula Program for African-American families.

With my unwavering commitment to promoting the well-being of women and families, I believe I am making a meaningful impact in the field of perinatal care. My resilience, empathy, and determination are the driving forces behind my advocacy for women’s health and my role as a beacon of hope for those in need.
