Latrice Matthews

Health Net Doula

I became a doula and lactation educator to create and provide a support system to families transitioning into parenthood. This project is a dynamic opportunity to: (1) Decrease maternal and infant mortality rates and (2) Rebuild trust in the African-American community.

I have over 18 years of experience working with families of various backgrounds. As a doula, I have worked in both the private and public sectors supporting both women and families before and during pregnancy. My philosophy is to treat each family and a unique entity. Through education and advocacy, families are empowered to make informed decisions about their health, based on evidence-based literature and practices.
